    Volunteers needs to be high school age and older. The food pantry is looking for people to commit to a few times a year (to help save on the amount of training that needs to be done).

    Grassroots Meal Donation


    Prepare a Sunday meal for Grassroots to serve individuals and families experiencing a personal, situational, mental health, or shelter crisis.

  • Annual School Supply Drive

    Donate school supplies to benefit children in Howard County! We accept:


    • Backpacks
    • Notebooks
    • Pencils
    • Pens
    • Binders
    • Folders
    • etc.

    Drive runs July 26-August 10, 2025. Please drop off your donations at St. Francis Church in the labeled bins in St. John's Hall.

    Please drop off casseroles at St. Francis between 8am - 9am.

  • Living in Recovery - Sunday Sweets

    Every Sunday

    Living in Recovery - Sunday Sweets


    Provide a Sunday night dessert and packed lunches for the start of the work week for the 12 residents of the Living in Recovery group home as a show of support and encouragement for participants working to recover from addiction. Individual desserts can be cookies (2 per person) or brownies/cookie bars (1 per person) wrapped in plastic wrap or sealed in a plastic bag. Please no cakes, pies, or loaves of bread.

  • Needle Arts Ministry

    If you sew, knit, crochet,or anything else with a needle or hook, join us as we are serving God and others, one stitch at a time.


    We are making:

    • pillowcases for cancer victims, supporting the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne and Ryan’s Cases
    • scarves for active and overseas military, supporting Handmade with Love
    • items for Mary’s Home Maryland: babies, toddlers and adults

    Come meet with us on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM or the 4th Friday of the month at 10:00 AM.

    Learn more about our yearly support of Grassroots' Cold Weather and Emergency Shelter. We provide food and service to help individuals and families in crisis.

  • LindaBen Foundation

    Lindaben foundation provides Child and Family Stability Services and Affordable Housing Support for local communities and our partnered school’s families-in-transition (Homeless and At-Risk). We provide ‘sustainable’ healthy access to food, wrap around services such as housing support and pathways towards self-sufficiency programs.

  • Mary's Home

    Mary's Home Mission: we empower expectant mothers and their children in crisis by providing a safe home, supportive community, and holistic accompaniment on their journey toward family stability.


    Interested? Become a sponsor for our annual gala or volunteer to help:

    • Provide chidcare for appointments, postpartum help Bible study, etc.
    • Provide transportation for a mom to go to an appointment, run an errand, go to church, etc.
    • Organizing donations and cleaning office space
    • Plan community activities, retreats, holidays, baby showers
    • Lead morning devotions
    • Lead weekly exercise group
    • Serve as relief staff
    • Help with gala and fundraising events
    • Help moms pursuing a drivers license to practice driving
    • Lead a workshop on cooking parenting, healthy relationships or other life skills
    • Doula services
    • Breastfeeding education and support

  • Columbia Pregnancy Center

    St. Francis Parishioners have long supported Columbia Pregnancy Center through financial and material support. Located in Columbia, MD, CPC is a comprehensive pregnancy medical center specializing in:


    • early pregnancy confirmation
    • options counseling
    • STI/STD testing
    • after-abortion care
    • parenting support

    We provide free and confidential services to support those navigating unplanned pregnancies. Our mission is to deliver compassionate care and hope through education, essential supplies, and connections to community resources. No matter your situation, our caring team is here to answer your questions about abortion, adoption, and parenting and to provide guidance along the way.

  • Thanksgiving Food Drive

    Every fall, we collect thousands of pounds of food and deliver it to St. Benedict's Neighborhood Center in Baltimore. We provide enough food for hundreds of needy families to have an entire Thanksgiving meal!


    Announcements typically start in October.

  • Christmas Drive

    Every Advent season, we collect toys, clothing, gifts, and blankets for families in need. All items are delivered to St. Benedict's Neighborhood Center in Baltimore. Announcements typically start in late October/early November.

    Correctional facilities are looking to resume prison ministry programs and are in search of new volunteers. Training is provided.
